Community radio stations in Indonesia called for help. Most professional broadcast training programmes in Indonesia are organised in the capital, Jakarta. To travel all the way to Jakarta is too expensive for most programme makers and also the trainings do not fulfill their needs. That's why the School for Broadcast Media (Jakarta) and RNTC started the project 'Local Voices'.
Programme Makers from regional and local radio stations on Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Java will be trained on the spot in radio production, local journalism and other issues that are of concern to them.
At the same time, RNTC will support SBM to build up local training facilities. SBM will partner with local training centres and RNTC will assist in building up these relationships and advise SBM on its business plan.
The kick off of the project took place on May 19, 2010, with a one-day seminar on challenges in radio making in Indonesia. The Dutch ambassador for Indonesia, Mr. Nikolaos van Dam, held an opening speech.
The project will run from 2010 to 2012. 180 radio makers will be trained.
The project is financially supported by the Indonesian facility of Agentschap NL.

My movie has won several awards. I keep thanking you for encouraging me to
walk the tough road. Thanks RNTC for keeping knocking on me when I could not
write good scripts, I finally got it.
