For a number of years RNTC has been working with e-learning as an extra tool for (distance) training for media professionals.
What is e-learning?
e-Learning, simply put, is learning behind the computer.
Participation is not bound by time or place and can be combined with day-to-day professional and personal commitments. The courses take place within a fixed number of weeks and consist of a series of modules, presented through a specially designed website. Each module means spending a number of hours per week reading, doing homework and assignments and discussing topics with fellow participants.
Homework and other contributions can be uploaded to the website and the eTrainer provides professional feedback.
There is not one type of e-learning!
The most important lesson RNTC learned was: there is not one type of e-learning that fits all. The learning process needs to take into account the PC and Internet experience of the student and certainly has to comply with the learning style the participant is accustomed to. That is why RNTC has developed different styles for applying e-learning. Blended learning is one of them, where e-learning is combined with face-to-face training.
My time at RNTC has given me new vision to the way I approach training and has made enormous impact on what I leave behind for my students.
